This is an established post joining the Senior Clinical Fellow rota which totals 11 individuals: 5 Trauma Fellows, 6 Senior Clinical Fellows. This rota is supported by a Registrar rota and a Junior Clinical Fellow rota. At present the rotas are subject to review and may change.
 This post is to work primarily with Mr. Groom, Miss Phillips, Mr. Lahoti and Mr Saini. Cross-covering within the Limb Reconstruction Firm is necessary and the appointed candidate is expected to be flexible in their weekly duties. The King’s Limb Reconstruction Service is now well established and takes patients from South East England, and from the Armed Forces. The Service also supports the Major Trauma Centre. There is a well-established multi-disciplinary team with a meeting every Monday morning. In addition there is a Bone Infection MDT.
 The workload is difficult to characterize and continues to develop. It includes:
 • Fracture non-union, both aseptic and infected
• Acute complex trauma including bone loss and peri-articular fractures
• Malunion
• Congenital deformity and leg length discrepancy
• Osteomyelitis
• Lower limb joint arthroplasty
• Paediatric Orthopaedics
Inevitably many different techniques including Ilizarov,Taylor Spatial Frame, MaxFrame, LRS and Lengthening intramedullary nails are used within this service. The Limb Reconstruction Team includes 4 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons (Miss Sarah Phillips, Mr Om Lahoti, Mr Graeme Groom and Mr. Aaron Saini), 1 Locum Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Mr Asaad Asaad), 1 Senior Speciality Surgeon (Mr. Naveen Abhishetty) 2 Clinical Nurse Specialists (Mrs. Debbie Bond and Miss Eliza Santos) together with a dedicated Physiotherapist, (Sue Swaine).
 There is a dedicated Counselling Service with Liaison Psychiatry (Dr Ewa Okon-Rocha). At present the clinical psychology post is vacant. We have a newly appointed Research Assistant (Eva Broecklemann). The Limb Reconstruction Team work closely with our Plastic Surgical colleagues, Miss V Rose, Mr E Fitzpatrick O’Connor, Mr. Asmat Din & Mr. Vince Ottaviano.
 The Service is supported by our charity Rebuild (www.rebuildcharity.org) which has been very effective in “plugging the gaps” in NHS provision. We have recently introduced a new service which provides financial and benefits advice to patients. It also funds our research assistant. We are setting up a new database (funded by Rebuild) which will enable further clinical research within the Unit. The Fellowship post is suited to a senior trainee looking to broaden their experience in Limb Reconstruction. A minimum of 5 years previous orthopaedic experience is essential with attainment of FRCS (Tr& Orth) or equivalent.
