The British Limb Reconstruction Society (BLRS) was delighted to support the Rehabilitation in Limb Reconstruction meeting, held by University Hospital Southampton on 9th October 2026.

Designed for allied health professionals, the meeting brought together Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other Healthcare Professionals to share knowledge, experience and best practice in the Rehabilitation of Patients undergoing Complex Limb Reconstruction.
The comprehensive programme covered a wide range of topics, including advances in surgical techniques, military rehabilitation, complex upper limb reconstruction, necrotising fasciitis, transverse tibial transportation, paediatric limb reconstruction and targeted muscle reinnervation.

Interactive breakout sessions provided opportunities for multidisciplinary discussion on circular frames, pin-site care and splinting, highlighting the importance of collaborative working in optimising patient outcomes.
A particular focus was the future direction of rehabilitation research, with discussions exploring priorities for the next two years and opportunities to strengthen the evidence base underpinning clinical practice.

The BLRS extends its thanks to the organisers, speakers, delegates and industry supporters, including Joint Operations and Smith & Nephew, for their contributions.

The meeting highlighted the vital role of specialist rehabilitation within limb reconstruction and the importance of continued multidisciplinary collaboration, education and research.
